Match Reports 06/07
While the rest of the league was already enjoying their well-deserved summer break (except the Casuals/Lions), the Germans were facing Pulau Ubin for their final game of the season.
Well, you just don’t want to lose your last game, so we figured we should finish it off with a nice little win.
Pulau Ubin probably figured the same, so it was going to be an interesting game after all.
Besides trying to decently end the season, we also tried to make up for the loss in our first encounter back in November where we allowed Ubin’s striker to score all 5 goals (yes he was brilliant, but you just cannot have someone scoring 5 against you!!).
Unfortunately we had a lot of cancellations for this game – plus Thomas and Joerg questionable due to injuries*, so we didn’t know if this was going to work.
Finally, these 11 were ready to battle Pulau Ubin before the usual sell-out crowd:
Zafer Cech in goal, Thomas “Die Gazelle” Berner as last man, with support from his sister Gazelle Torsten Bertold and the Mean Machine Andree Hollerbach.
In front of this “blood-young” defense, we had Joerg Netzer as sweeper and Ralf Zuckowski and Sascha Ballack securing the wings. Tatinaldinho once again started in center midfield while Kerim Frings and Cyrill Barnetta acted as “hanging strikers”. All alone up front, Mike Hammer performed his one-man show as center striker.
The bench was occupied by Phil Inzaghi, Lars Buchwald, Martin Salihamidzic and Jin Knopf.
Ergo, the crowd witnessed an open battle with goal-scoring chances on either side. Right after Ubin missed another clear chance, the Germans scored seemingly out of the blue: Big Mike was chasing a long ball, somehow got in possession, cut inside and fired a shot from half left about 25 meters away. The ball hit the inside long pole and went in. Strike!
After that, Ubin tried to fight back and continued to push. The Germans reacted with fine counter-attacks which led to two more goals. Standing strong and deep, they were quick to conquer the ball and switch to offense extremely fast. The recipe to success was quick long balls to Mike and Tati who kept the Ubin defense very busy.
On one of these fast breaks following a Ubin corner kick, Tati received a long ball and couldn’t be stopped by the Ubin defense – he nicely converted making it 3-0.
The second goal was another awesome strike by Mike Hammer: On the left wing, Tati hit a long cross into the far corner of the box where Mike was standing. Volleying this cross usually means “we need a new ball” – but not this time. Mike volleyed the ball and hammered it into the far top left corner of the goal! What a strike!
The score was 3-0 at half-time, but the game was far from being over. The Germans expected a series of angry Ubin attacks in the second half, and therefore, prepared for another intense 40 minutes. (Joerg had to be substituted and was replaced by Martin)
Another precise long pass by Sascha led to the game-winning 4-0. Tati’s opponent was unable to contain him and consequently, Tati used the space to perform one of his infamous dribblings eventually making it 4-0.
Another great example of clinical counter-attacks led to the 5-0. A play that started on the left deep into GAS’ half finally landed on Ralf’s right wing (via Sascha, Kerim and Tati). Ralf finished it with a nice shot into the far left corner. Arsene Wenger would have been proud!
Lars (for Torsten), Phil (for Cyrill) and Jin (for Mike) also greatly contributed to the game in the second half.
Man of the match:
Sascha Heussler – nicely set up two goals and won just about all of his challenges. His best performance this season!
Thanks for a great season 2006/2007!
Martin
Captain Joerg on the other hand suffered from age-related (phantom) pain in his knees aka “ag(e)ritis”
Fortunately, both of them were able to play for at least one half!
We always like to refer to SCC as the Bayern Munich of the Cosmoleague and as a matter of fact, the similarities are undeniable – especially this season. Both teams don’t seem to be up to their usual level and have been struggling lately. We figured we could take advantage of this and try to act as the VFB Stuttgart stealing away a few points. The fact that SCC needed three points badly in order to keep their championship hopes alive gave it a little extra flavour.
The Allstars had to replace a few players (e.g. El Capitano Joerg urgently needed to go back to the DDR to cure his homesickness and Sascha Ballack decided to go to Tioman on a romantic getaway with his hot young intern). But nevertheless, we managed to gather a very competitive squad namely good ol’ Zafer kitty cat in goal, Thommy van Shouten acting as our last man and Andree Brehme and Rino Chapuisat standing tall as our man markers in defense. In front of them we had Heiko Jeremies and van Shouten’s brother in mind Matthias Schweinsteiger to seal off center midfield while Cyrill Barnetta covered the left wing and on the right, we welcomed back Ralf Kurbjuweit.
Tatinaldinho in center midfield, Buelent Bastuerk and Philatio completed the roster to form our offensive line-up.
Coach Trappatoni, as always prepared the team en point and told the Allstars to await SCC in their own half forming a tight and strong defense. The strikers should act as the first line of defense to help tighten the space and spread out quickly when the ball was conquered.
During the first half this strategy was implemented very well with the Allstars showing one of their best performances all season. As a result, neither team was able to produce clear opportunities and most of the play took place in midfield. The Germans even seemed to have higher possession of the ball showing a number of nice combinations. SCC on the other hand seemed to have a hard time getting into the game and they couldn’t find the right key to unlock the tight German defensive lines.
After about 20 minutes we had to substitute Ralf who baldy collided with an SCC player after a corner kick and had to be brought to the hospital to get his bleeding head stitched up again. (We strongly advise not to use the elbow when going up for a header!)
Carl Hoelzenbein was brought on to replace Ralf.
The tension remained high and the spectators witnessed an interesting first half.
When the ref blew the whistle, the Germans took a minute to catch their breath and prepared themselves for force SCC attacks to come in second half.
The first 15 minutes in the second half were dominated by SCC who were clearly pushing for a goal. And they succeeded after about 10 minutes when their midfielder nicely converted a rebound from a corner.
But the Germans were not shocked – they took a few minutes to refocus and then started to push for the equalizer (Big Mike Yeboah was brought on to replace Cyrill, so the Germans now had 3 strikers on the pitch).
Despite the ceaseless attempts, it looked like another one of these typical SCC games – scoring that one goal to get away with three points. But then we witnessed the proof that indeed there is a football god – two minutes before the end of the game, Tati got ahold of the ball on the far left end corner of the box and netted it with a crystal-clear shot into the far corner making it 1-1.
After that both teams tried to push for the winner and we almost scored on another chance, but that may have been “ein bisschen viel des Guten.”
So to sum it up, the draw was the right result for an interesting and tough-led game. A surprise result, but certainly a well-deserved one – at least from the Germans’ perspective.

The season is almost over, but it was only now that the German Allstars met with the Latini.
We knew we were to face a technically sound and talented Franco-italian (?) squad, but since we had a strong line-up all the way through our bench, we thought we would have a chance to steal a few points.
With our Turkish legend Zafer not being around to protect our goal, we put our Croatian “Allzweck-Waffe” Tino Hildebrand in goal who prepared himself for this event in a “Trainingslager” in
A few minutes into the game, Franzl suddenly realized that he had forgotten to cool the 30l beer keg that he was going to sponsor later that night in his highly recommended restaurant “Brotzeit” at VivoCity (check it out for some great Bavarian beer and traditional dishes!!). He got so shocked that he instantly pulled a muscle and had to be substituted (Marcus Grabowski came in).
As expected, Latini put up a nice one-touch style of play and produced a couple of good opportunities most of which Tino Hildebrand saved in “Weltklassemanier”. The Germans tried to stand tall and reply with physical strength and indeed fought their way into the game. About halfway through the first half, Phil was delivered a great pass into the box and he scored kaltschnaeutzigly. But Latini kept on coming and managed to equalize two minutes before halftime.
The Germans substituted two more players in halftime – Michi Littbarski came in for Sascha and Matthias Schweinsteiger replaced Cyrill on the left wing to provide some raw Bavarian power.
During the first 20 minutes into the second half, the Germans seemed to have adjusted to the Latinis’ style and produced a few nice chances – Matthias almost scored from way downtown and Michi Litti just missed a nice cross from Mike Yeboah who was substituted for Phil later on as was Ingo who replaced Joerg. During this drangperiode, Phil fought his way through the Latini defense and was brought down inside the box. The due penalty was nicely converted by Thommy making it 2-1 with another 20 minutes to go. After that Latini seemed distracted for about 5 minutes fooling some Germans to believe they could easily keep the lead for good. Mais en contraire, Latini pulled themselves together and managed to make it 2-2 on a nice shot by their striker.
Right when Thomas was contemplating on his great penalty a few minutes earlier, a long ball came flying and caught him by surprise. He hit a nice “airhole” and the striker was all alone approaching Tino. Despite a poor finish by the French striker, Tino for some strange reason was unable to hold onto the ball – and it was 3-2 for Latini.
Speaking of some strange reasons – even though there were more than 10 minutes left to play, the Germans never took out the crowbar/Brechstange and seemed almost reluctant to turn the game around. Consequently, Latini scored yet again and finally won 4-2.
Overall ,it was a deserved win for the French, but the Germans could have just as well gotten away with some points. It’s just another two more weeks until we meet again – dann schaun mer mal…
Thanks to Latini for a fair and interesting game.
A hot afternoon was greeting the Stars on Saturday for the game against Brewerkz. Fortunately there was a bit of down pour at the beginning of the game, which helped to ease the blistering 3pm tempeartures.
The German All Stars had the Black Cat from the
The defense was locked by the “3 von der Tankstelle” Joerg Bonhof, The Swiss Legend Rino Chapuisat and Andree Di Caprio. In front of the defense it was Mr.Voice Tommy Hanks and shooting Star Steffen Eckstein vacuum cleaning. On the midfield wings it was Super-Oesi Franz together with Chapuisat Junior and up front we started with Hermann Hrubesch, Tati Young Star and Buelent Schweinsteiger.
The game started with a good chance for the Germans, as Joerg Bonhof nailed a free kick on the Brewerkz post. Short after that the German Captain was still thinking about his beauty stitches from last weekend and so completely under estimated a long ball, which the Brewerkz forward picked up and converted nicely.
So it was 1:0 for Brewerkz, but no heads went down within the German Kampfgruppe. The team showed some good spirit and also some good football. After a nice combination on the left side the Austrian Road Runner Franzerl brought in an excellent cross, which found Buelent Schweinsteiger who superbly made it 1:1. The Germans continued some good football during that period of the game and only short after that the 2 German Stuermer Tati and Herr Hrubesch followed coach Sascha Trapatoni’s instruction and started crossing. As a result of it suddenly the German Teeni Schwarm Steffen Schweinsteiger showed up completely free in front of the Brewerkz goal. With a beautiful shoot into the long corner he made his way into the hearts of the screaming crowd. So it was suddenly 2:1 for the German All Stars and Brwerkz started to push forward aggressively, but with a little bit of luck and a good goalie-cat the Germans rescued the lead into the break.
The second half started similar as the first ended. Brewerkz pushing for the equalizer and after a corner the ball was almost already in, but with a fantastic reflex Zafer saved the short distance header. The German team now brought Sascha Trapatoni, Marcus van Veen and Carlos Alberto Dunga. Still it did not change very much on the direction the game went. The pressure was mounting, but still the Germans dug their heels in and bravely defended the lead. It was only 8 minutes before the end that they had to concede the equalizer after a free kick canon from 20 meters.
Now it was 2:2 and the German supporters got a little bit worried, whether the game might even get lost, but surprisingly the last 2 chances of the game were actually with the German team. First it was Tatinaldhino in front of the goalie, but his shoot was cleared by the Brewerkz defender and then it was Mr.Voice who with a beautiful header almost finished off the game. But it was not to be and so both teams settled for a draw and a couple of nice jugs of beer at the stadium canteen. German Man of The Match was Steffen, who showed a great performance, scored an excellent goal and sponsored 2 jugs of beer afterwards.
Thanks to Brewerkz for a very fair game.
GAS – Hollandse 2:1 March 24th
A very hot afternoon was greeting the Stars on Saturday for the game against Hollandse. It was the good old
The German Org Committee had to resolve quite a bit of a problem, as both Goalie Cats - Klaus and Zafer - were not around. Who could be the one in goal? The choice came to Nick Lehmann, who knows perfectly how to keep a clean sheet from his time as Mittelstuermer and so he was in and did an excellent job.
The defense was locked by Joerg Bonhof, The Swiss Legend Rino Chapuisat and Andree Lahm. In front of the defense it was Sascha Briegel and Mr.Voice Tommy Hanks vacuum cleaning. On the midfield wings it was Kerim and Franz and up front we started with Tatinaldinho, Hermann Hrubesch and Chapuisat Junior.
The game was only a few moments old, when the Germans had their first chance. A superb through ball by Meister Briegel set up Hermann Klose in front of the Dutch Goal, but the Goalie made a good save. Step by step the Germans got better into the game and had a couple of chances, where the best after a great shoot by Tati and a good header of the rebound by Sascha were both well saved by the Dutch Goalie. The heat was tremendous and so it was tough for both teams to keep up the speed. One who showed quite a bit of speed was Tatinaldhino, as he sneaked on to a pass back to the goal keeper and somehow got the ball and marched towards the empty goal to make it 1:0 for the Germans. Hollandse was now pushing forward, but could not endanger the great Nick Lehmann in Goal very much and so it stayed 1:0 at the well deserved break.
The second half started again with a great chance for Hermann, but as he was already thinking about the sausages he had to put on the barbeque and so he could not convert it. The Dutch now came better into the game and tried to push for the equalizer, but the German defense stood tall. The German Tactic Team made some changes and brought Steffen Matthaeus, Buehlent Overath, Carl Podolski and Mat Neuville in order to score the 2nd goal.
The game went on – Hollandse trying to push forward but the German All Stars continued to defend well. After an unfortunate collision between the 2 captains the German Joerg Bonhoff had to go off for a short visit to the Mount Elizabeth Hospitals Sewing station. With this the German Team was reduced to 10 Men and had to survive another 15 Minutes. But it was Carl Podolski, who took his heart into his hands and finished off a nice combination to make the releasing 2:0 with 10 Minutes to go. The new Libero Sascha Briegel wanted to still keep up the excitement for the spectators and produced a sweet little handball, which gave Hollandse a penalty and the 1:2.
But the Germans fought well and did not allow another goal. With this it was a 2:1 victory for The German All Stars, which was celebrated in style later at Hermann’s Monster Party.
Thanks to Hollandse for a very fair game.

Facing the Lions you never know what to expect – of course you will always get British spirit and fighting, but it is always not sure whether there will be any technical skills as well. This time it was a combination of both – British old school kick and rush and some nice one-touch football.
The Germans on the other hand tried to stand up to their typical characteristics – standing tall and strong to overcome any technical lack.
These players tried to do so: Black cat Zafer certainly standing tall and strong as always in goal, Sascha replacing our Socialist “all-time weapon” Joerg as last man (Libero Beckenbauer), Tino “Reiz
Philatio gave his very best as our center striker and Cyrill and Hermann started out as our guys on the offensive wings.
The game started out pretty evenly divided with chances on both sides without any side gaining overweight.
Halfway through the first half the Lions seemed a little stronger and a little more organized in midfield giving them some edge over the German Allstars. However, no real opportunities for the Lions.
The Germans substituted Mathieu for Hermann in second half trying to create some more presence on the pitch, but at first the Lions seemed to be more awake and determined to score the first goal. The Allstars’ coach continuously complained about his players to be begging yet again to concede a goal and tried to get the Germans up to spirit again. After a little while the Germans got back on track again and were pushing for a goal themselves. But right when the Germans seemed to get a grip on the Lions, Tino lost his head and got into an infight with a Lion player which made the ref to send him off. Yes, the punishment seemed a little harsh, but a push is still a push and can be punished with a red card. So, there won’t be any complaint about this decision, but it certainly gave the Lions an advantage which they used a few minutes later. A nice run through the Allstars offense gave the Lions’ substitute striker a chance to score from short range leaving Zafer little chance to save his clear shot.
After that the Germans tried everything to still get a draw (Steffen and Lars came on), but for some reason Kerim managed to hit the pole rather than goal and so, the Germans ended up empty-handed yet again. (the Lions scored on another penalty to make it 2-0)
Well, what are you gonna do? We limited ourselves with that red card and therefore missed to get at least one point.
Thanks to the Lions for a fair and well-fought game.

Cup Quarter Final: GAS – Casuals 1:2 March 3rd
After a few weeks without competitive football it was a hammer draw against the Casuals awaiting the German All Stars in the Cup Quarterfinal last Saturday. After up setting Brewerkz in the first round, the German tanks were up for another challenge and started with the Black Cat Zafer in Goal. The defense was locked by Joerg Bonhof, The Swiss Legend Rino Chapuisat and Andree. In front of the defense it was Sascha Brehme and Kerim Briegel vacuum cleaning. Chapuisat Junior together with Tatinaldhino and Mountain Makalele Heiko did the midfield work and upfront it was Phil Collins together with Hermann Klose.
As expected the Casuals started well into the game putting quite a bit of pressure towards the German goal. Nevertheless the defense stood well and beside a few attempts from far away, there were not too many chances created. After about 25 Minutes the Casuals got a Free Kick 18 Meters out. As the Germans are famous to build good and solid walls they did a great job again. For some reason there was a Casual player left completely free and nobody really watched – except the Casual players themselves, who put him into action and he put the ball in the back of the net with ease. Clever free kick – sleepy German Tanks, who were still proud of the solid wall … !!!
But no heads went down and even though Casuals were now pushing for the 2nd the Germans stood tall and so it was 1:0 at half time.
After the break a similar picture: Casuals playing some good balls and pushing forward, but the German Tanks hanging in to it and defending quite well. After about 15 Minutes Sascha Brehme had a good chance from 16 meters, but as his old friend Martin Schneider from SC Martinshoehe would call it: continued his Abschlussschwaeche. Shortly after that the Germans had another very good opportunity, after Naveed Hoelzenbein got the ball off the Casuals defender, but his shoot went wide.
The Germans now threw in everything they had by bringing Carl Hrubesch, Ingo Netzer and Gerrit Rummenigge. But it was the Casuals, who finished the game off with a nice One – Two piece and so it was 2:0 with about 10 minutes to go. The good thing on German end was that still no heads went down within the German “Schuetzen-Reihe”. With 2 Minutes to go a beautiful combination between Naveed Hoelzenbein, Tatinaldinho’s wonder Bra and Ingo Netzer saw the later netting a lovely 2:1.
A few more moments were to play, but not enough to change anything.
Casuals deservedly moved on, as they were the better team and compliments to the Germans who still fought with heart until the very end !!!

GAS – Rangsers 1:3 February 10th
The heat was back in Singapore and so was the old derby between Rangers and the German All Stars. The Bundestrainer had a tough job to pick the right squad, as there were a lot of confirmations.
The German tanks started with the Black Cat Zafer in Goal, who should become a movie start later in the game. The defense was locked by Joerg Bonhof, The Swiss Legend Rino Chapuisat and back-on-stage Andree. In front of the defense Mr. Voice – Tom Hanks – made himself heard together with his good Buddy Mountain Makalele Heiko. Kerim Matthaeus together with Robert Redford and Cyrill Chapuisat did the midfield work and upfront it was Phil Collins together with Tatinaldinho.
The game started sleepy most likely due to “great” temperatures. Both teams tried to get a grip on the game, but it was the German team who had the first chance. Tatinaldhino carved its way through the Rangers defense and was alone in front of the Goalie. He could not finish, but the ball bounced back to Phil Collins, who stood in front of the empty goal, but could not make it in. The next minute saw how quickly the picture in a football game can change. Mountain Makalele played a harmless ball back from the midline to the Goalie Zafer, who obviously must have enjoyed a wonderful night with his sweet heart Oezlem. He was still dreaming about the great time and was wondering whether he should do a Turkish dance. As the ball rolled closer towards him he lifted his right leg to start with the dance and realized too late, that he had left the dance floor already and was now on the steamy Japanese Association pitch. The ball peacefully rolled into the net and so it was 1:0 for the Rangers. Only a few minutes later Rangers made it 2:0 with a “Sunday-Shoot” from 25 Meters. So they were 2:0 up without having a major chance and they played their game now very clever. The Germans tried to bounce back, but it needed a Half-Time-Hair-Drying of the Bundestrainer to really lift the spirits up. After the break the German tanks now showed some will and durchziehing. A few chances were created, as the game shifted more towards the Rangers goal. After about 10 Minutes it was Phil Collins who headed in a Bonhof cross and so the game was open again 2:1. The Bundestrainer now threw in everything – sorry almost everything - he had by bringing Sascha Briegel and Ingo Sheringham. Another German lad, was a bit “gefangen in his emotionality” and so the German Team had to fight through with just 4 additional fresh legs. The game was now relatively open, but while the Germans fought bravely it was not meant to be, as the Rangers defense stood tall and did not allow many opportunities or break trough’s. The Swiss legend Rino almost made the equalizer after a corner, but shortly after that Rangers finished a counter attack and the game with cold blood: 3-1. While Germany had fought back in the second half, it proved to be too difficult to overcome a clever Rangers team on Saturday.
Major Learning was again, that the German Lads should start playing football from the first minute of the game and not only just wake up after the half time hair-drying exercise. Many things had to be discussed over a few drinks after the game and major additional teaching point here was that Humankind is not black and white or how one of the finest German Intellectual Robbie Messner put it: Life is not digital. As Mr. Voice later was seen jumping wildly through the butter Factory this fact had been proved vividly.
Quot erat demonstrandum

They started again with the Black Cat Zafer in Goal. The defense was locked by Joerg Bonhof, The Swiss Legend Rino Chapuisat and in-form Arzgebirgs-Makalele Heiko Escher. In front of the defense Kerim Overath was back from a 2 Month
The German team started a bit nervous in the game.
The half time speech of coach Martin Loew, was a bit like the ESPN advertisement, when Alex Ferguson is hair-drying his players. He asked for “durchziehing” and this is what the Germans did. They continued to play forward utilizing especially Youngstar Cylle and created chances. After a couple of misses it was a beautiful cross from Young Chapuisat, that saw Phil-Latio completely alone only 3 meters in front of the empty goal – and – he made it in!!! 1:0. A 5 tons weight was falling off the German shoulders and they pushed now for the 2nd goal. It was not the afternoon of the Walz from the Pfalz, who had another 2 – 3 crystal clear opportunities, but somehow the Chinese traditional Foot Massage Dude must have completely smashed his toe the night before and so he had to settle without a goal. The Germans now celebrated the come back of Andree Mertesacker after 3 month of injury and the farewell of Jin – Tonic, who moves into the world to become a movie star. Torsten Treibsand also came into the game and the German team held on to the 1:0 lead, of course with Mr. Voice – Tom Hanks collecting his usual yellow card for his outstanding communication skills.
All in all it was an “Arbeits-sieg” for the German All Stars, but very important to still make the impossible golden goal happen. Credit to the German Man-of-the-Match Cyrill Chapuisat and compliment to

GAS – Brewerkz 1:0 January 27th
It was Cup time last Saturday and it was Brewerkz against the German All Stars. Looking at the COSMO League table, it should have been a pretty straight forward game, but some times Cup games follow their own law.
The Germans started again with the Black Cat Zafer in Goal. The defense was locked by Joerg Mertesacker, The Swiss Clock Rino and back-in-form Mountain Makalele Heiko. In front of the defense it was Thomas Amboss and Sascha Ballack vacuum cleaning, which left Robert De Niro together with Markus Matthaeus and Cyrill Bonhoff to do the midfield work. Upfront saw Phil-Latio storming aside of Tati-naldinho.
The Germans started well into the game playing the ball from a solid defense with some good passing through the midfield. So they also had the first chance of the game as the Brewerkz’ goalie nicely saved a shot from the German captain. While Brewerkz started to get better into the game, the German tanks stood tall and did not allow many chances. The only Brewerkz chance was well handled by the Black cat Zafer. On the German end it was Sascha, who had a great chance, but somehow cleared the ball into the Katong-Sky. So it was 0:0 at half time in a very close game.
After the break Brewerkz tried to get the game under control, but again the Germans fought back and stood together as team. Especially the German defense was up for it and both defenders Rino and Heiko did a great job. Only major chance of the second half was with Brewerkz as a nice header went close after a corner. Time was running and both teams threw in everything to get the win before the looming extra time. But it was not to be and so the spectators got the pleasure of extra time with the golden goal rule.
The beginning of first half of extra time saw the Germans almost making it 1:0, but off side it was. Both teams were fighting bravely but still the game went on in a very fair manner. Short before the end of the first half in extra time it was a Brewerkz attacker, who somehow managed to squeeze the ball beside instead of into the goal. So it stayed 0:0 and the second half of extra time began.
After about 5 minutes the Germans got a free kick from half left position. The captain was looking for his good old Buddy Sascha. The free kick came in nicely behind the Brewerkz Defense and indeed found The Walz from the Pfalz Sascha, who with some Betze-Magic and his lovely right foot volleyed the ball into the long corner. It was the golden goal, it was unbelievable and it was all
The German All Stars took away a not undeserved win, but credit to Brewerkz, who played a very fair game and could have come out as the winner as well. But this time it was the day of the Germans, which was celebrated in style with a couple of beautiful Gin-Tonic Pokals. German man of the match was Heiko, who had some outstanding tackles and is back from out of space.

It had been raining for days and so some of the German All Stars speculated that the game would be cancelled. With this they went the extra mile on Friday Night and it must have been quite a shock to get the information for breakfast that the game against

In front of the defense it was Robert De Niro and Sascha Ballack vacuum cleaning, which left Thomas Amboss together with Ralf Kurbjuweit and Cyrill Bonhoff to do the midfield work. Upfront it was new signing Carl Neuville storming aside of Tati-naldinho.
The Germans started well in to the game playing the ball from a solid defense with some great passing through the midfield. While the game was in German hands, there were not too many chances created. Around mid of the first half, there was a string of about 25 corners and the Germans used the last one to make it 1:0. Carl Neuville, in his historical first game as a German All Stars, converted with a beautiful header. Now

But no heads went down and with some good fighting the German All Stars got back into the game. Only a few moments after the 2:2 it was Tati-naldinho, who brilliantly netted after a great pass by Cyrill Bonhoff.

GAS – Casuals 0:6 December 9th
Congratulations to the Casuals for a well deserved win and a great team performance. The German All Stars will have to go back to the drawing board to get back into the game after 2 losses in a row. A good Santa-Claus-Break will hopefully help here. Merry Christmas!!!!

GAS – Gaulois 1:4 December 2nd
A tricky encounter against Gaulois, was awaiting the German All Stars on Saturday and it actually proved to be too tricky for the German tanks. The French team took a deserved victory and seems to be on its way to higher regions in the table now.
The Germans started again with the Black Cat Zafer in Goal, who flew directly in from Mumbai. The defense was supposed to be locked by Joerg Mertesacker, Tino Balkankracher and Torsten Treibsand. Unfortunately the lockage had several severe leakages. In front of the defense it was Robert De Niro and Kerim Magath vacuum cleaning, which left Tatinaldhino together with Ralf Kurbjuweit and Gerrit Bonhoff to do the midfield work. Upfront Sascha Ballack was storming aside of Phillip Hrubesch.
The game started with the French team pushing the Germans into the defense, without generating major damage yet. After about 10 minutes, the German All Stars got better into the game and had a couple of nice combinations. This was the time, when the French team scored the first after a corner. No heads went down, but when the German defense was desperately hoping for off side it was 2:0 only a few minutes later. And not that this was enough already it was even 3:0, after Torsten was flying across the field, but his knees seemed to sink deeper and deeper into the ground, so that the French forward could get the ball and finish it off. Sascha Ballack fired a couple of wake up calls into the German front lines and so the team got somewhat back into the game. After Gerrit Bonhoff was brought down in the box it was penalty and Meister Ballack did not make a mistake so that it was 1:3 at half time.
Quite a bit of a shocking result, but relegation proved Coach Klinsajew brought Nick Knipser and later Stefan Beinlich in order to get the game turned. The German All Stars gave their best and fought together as a brave bunch of guys, but it was not meant to be that day. Even though now the game was mainly going towards the French half, the Gaulois attacks were still dangerous. The Germans had some good combinations and also one or the other shot on goal, which was mainly saved by the good French Goalie. 10 Minutes form the end a French counter attack decided the game – 4:1.
Even though the result and the way the Germans played was bad, the Santa Claus brought a couple of nice presents to the team during the Christmas Party in the evening, including a stunning Road Movie made by Sascha Ballack. Heads up German All Stars - there will be better games coming for sure.
Congratulations to the French Team, who played a good game and will certainly continue to be moving further up in the table.

GAS – Vikings 4:1 November 18th
After the 2:1 loss against the Vikings during the first game, there was a lot at stage for the German All Stars on Saturday for the 3pm re-match. The ITE pitch was in very good condition and the Rain-God kept it dry, so that everything was set up for a good afternoon.
The Germans started again with the proven Black Cat Zafer in Goal. The defense was supposed to be locked by Joerg Mertesacker, Tino Balkankracher and Swiss Legend Rino Chapuisat. In front of the defense it was Simon Hargraeves and Robert De Niro vacuum cleaning, which left the 3 from the petrol station Ralf Kurbjuweit, Thomas Amboss and Franz Prohaska to do the work in midfield. As all strikers were on other duty, it was Sascha Ballack and Cyrill Young Star up front.
The game started as usual. The Germans still a bit sleepy in midfield left a Viking free, who made it 1:0 for the Scandinavians with a superb shot from 25 Meters. Still the German team proved strong, as no heads went down, but with good fighting spirit the team came back into the game. After a decent ball behind the defense from the Captain it was Betzebub Sascha Ballack showing his finest Pfalz-Skills by smashing in the equalizer. Looked like it was day of the “Walz from the Pfalz” as only a few minutes later he made it 2:1 with another nice shot, after the ball had bounced the normal 5 meters while receiving. The German Team now more and more controlled the game due to good work in mid field (Kerim Essien came for the injured Tino Balkankracher) and solid team play from the back. The best attack of the afternoon saw Roberto Carlos making it 3:1 short before the half time break. He ran all the way from the Defense line down the right wing and played a so called “Doppelpass” with Cylle Young Star, who perfectly passed the ball into the box, so that the Meck-Pom-Legend with a clinical finish made it 3:1. Great play and a deserved score for the Germans at Half time. Only change in the German front line by Coach Marcus Klinsajew was to get Naveed Schneider in for Franzerl Prohaska.
The 2nd Half started as usual, seeing the German’s being a bit shaky and allowing the Vikings some attacks, but without bringing the Black Cat into deep trouble. After a while the All Stars got the game back in control. As the Betzebub had to run to the airport to pick up his Sweetheart, he decided to leave on a high note. After a great cross by the Swiss Legend Rino, he hammered in a beautiful header from 11 meters. So it was 4:1, the game was more or less decided and the Betzebub on its way to the airport. Nick Knipser, Martin Rummenigge and Zuhaimi Schweinsteiger got their runs.
There were some more great chances to increase the score, but Nick Voeller und Martin Rummenigge somehow could not make them in. So it stayed 4:1 in a good and deserved win for the Germans against a Viking Team, which seemed not have its strongest line up together for the game.
Man of the Match was Sascha Ballack, who scored a great hattrick during the game and rumors were out, that he continued that great performance even after the game … !!!!
Cheers

Another Saturday, another classic in this season’s competition was upon us when we were facing the Dutch at ITE Simei. Considering the recent results of both teams and the present table the bookmaker for Sportwetten Gera set the quotes almost at level with slightly better chances on a German victory….and they should not be proven wrong.
Due to the still absence of our regular last man Joergi alias captain Hook and also the illness of Simon, who was actually supposed to take over this rule, Gas had to assemble again another defense. We put again our Thomas B. Johnson into the center of our line of defense in front of our Bosporus-cat Zafer in goal. As man-marker we lined-up Torsten Frings and Tino Balkankracher. Repatriate Franz playing the mountain Makalele position, vacuuming in front of the defense together with Sascha “playmaker” trying to stabilize the recently badly battered back-line. In midfield we played with Robert(o) Carlos in the center, Ralf Ducke on his favorite right wing making his great efforts running up and down the side-line, and Naveed doing his best on the other wing.Upfront, Nick “Knipser” was not available, Tati Youngstar and Phil Attica were penetrating the Dutch defense continuously.
Finally, paying off the GAS predominance within the first 45 minutes, Sascha converted a, by a Dutch defender averted, ball by using the orthodox “picke” to set us 1:0 in front of the Dutch. The Germans kept applying pressure on them and consequently Ralf finished off another good individual performance by himself to mark the 2:0 half-time score.
Two more substitutes came in, Lars for Tino in the defense and Jin Tonic on his first mission for the GAS for Phil, who almost scored around the 60th minute but hit the cross-bar only.
Anyway, the German showed good spirit and all involved run their lungs off to ensure that final score of 2:1 and for taking home these 3 important points. Many thanks to the Dutch for a very good challenge but at any time very fair conducted game and all the best to them for the remaining games of this season. We are looking already forward to meeting you again…
